Our History


Djamila Mahdi a cook & qualified microbiologist started by producing authentic Middle Eastern foods Falafel, Houmus & Tabouleh using traditional cooking methods for friends and family, but word soon spread to London’s ethnic communities. The demands grew from restaurateurs and the ’Home Cook’ start up moved to production facilities in 1996.


A business was borne and flourished with the development of retail products for London’s independent retailers, and later for Multiple Retailers. 


With UK consumers’ growing interest in Mediterranean foods, spurred on by world travel and their interest for new & exciting foods, the company diversified during 2008 into supplying bulk ingredients for leading manufacturers of retail ‘Food to Go’ products & National Foodservices customers.


With industry recognition for consistent quality products made from 100% natural ingredients, today Mediterranean Foods leads the market for bespoke product development that meets customers’ needs and consumers’ fast changing tastes.


A move to our new BRC ‘A’ accredited production centre in Uxbridge Middlesex during 2012 provides the facility to grow and expand our wide range of products.
